Mid Kent Mind
Our team of mental health professionals bring with them decades of experience. We are passionate about supporting our local communities and last year we worked with over 4500 individuals across Maidstone, Ashford and Swale.
Having been established over 50 years ago, we are trusted by healthcare professionals, schools, individuals, parents and families to provide high quality mental health support to people in need. We are also committed to raising awareness and offer a range of training courses so that people better understand mental health, how they can support themselves and others and what services exist in the local area that they can benefit from.
For adults, our wellbeing services continue to provide life saving support. In six months, our drop in café sessions prevented 45 instances of suicide, 60 uses of A&E and 121 contacts to crisis teams.
We are keen to respond to the needs and interests of our communities and with this in mind, we provide specially themed groups and courses. At the moment, we have a walking group, an arts group, a Menopause Mind and Movement Course and a Coping with Life Course. We have recently piloted specialist support for perinatal individuals as well as a healthy eating course in Ashford and are exploring opportunities to roll this out across the region.
Our affordable counselling service continues to be in high demand and last year, we delivered 3613 sessions. We are so grateful to our volunteer counsellors who dedicate their time to supporting individuals in our community.
Alongside our work with adults, we also provide specialist support for children and young people. Last year we supported 3325 under 18s with targeted interventions tailored to their needs. Primarily, this is delivered through school based groups however we also run open access courses throughout the year including holiday workshops. When surveyed, 83.25% of attendees reported that our Cognitive Behavioural Coaching courses benefitted their wellbeing.
We are extremely grateful to all of our funders for their continued support. Thanks to donations, grant funding and volunteers, we are able to reach thousands of individuals every year providing lifesaving interventions everyday.
