COVID-19 is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who get it will have mild to moderate symptoms and recover without needing special treatment. However, some people, especially older adults and those with health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, or cancer, may become seriously ill and need medical care.

Long COVID-19

Most people with COVID-19 start to feel better within a few days or weeks and fully recover within 12 weeks. However, some people have symptoms that last longer.

This is known as long COVID or post COVID-19 syndrome. Long COVID is a new condition that is still being researched.
