Homelessness

Getting help if you need it

⚠️ If you ever find yourself homeless or being threatened with homelessness for any reason, talk to your local Borough or District Council for guidance on finding somewhere to stay.

If you have any documents explaining why you are about to or have become homeless, you will need to take them with you when you visit your local council offices. Some councils may need to see specific documents, so it's best to check before you visit.

Kent Homeless Connect delivered by Porchlight, Look Ahead and a network of specialist providers on behalf of Kent County Council, help vulnerable people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The service is available to vulnerable adults living in Kent, aged 18 and over, with complex support needs (such as mental ill health, substance misuse problems, or learning difficulties) who are:

  • homeless
  • at risk of becoming homeless
  • impacted by homelessness.

They also help people move away from homelessness for good by bringing together elements of supported accommodation and floating support to offer tailored support to vulnerable people to:

  • enable them to be healthy
  • find a stable home
  • manage their tenancy or their finances.

If you are in danger of losing your home, or have already become homeless, they may be able to help you and give you access and maintain accommodation.
