Staircase Safety

How to stay safe on the stairs

As you get older, climbing stairs can become challenging, especially if you have asthma or joint problems like arthritis or osteoporosis. Consider installing a stairlift for safe and comfortable access.

Other ways to stay safe on the stairs:

  • Take your time: Walk slowly up and down the stairs.
  • Get help: Ask a relative or friend to assist you.
  • Avoid carrying heavy items: Don't carry objects that are heavy or block your view.
  • Install a downstairs toilet: Reduce trips up and down the stairs.
  • Consider moving: Think about downsizing to a bungalow.
