Accessible toilets and changing places
Accessible toilets are essential for people with a disability who need to use the bathroom when they are away from home.
They provide privacy, dignity, and comfort for people who may have difficulty using standard toilets or need assistance from a carer. Accessible toilets also enable people with a disability to participate in social, recreational, and economic activities without worrying..
Without accessible toilets, people with a disability may face barriers to inclusion, mobility, and independence.

Changing places toilets
The Changing Places Toilet scheme is an initiative that aims to provide accessible and safe toilet facilities for people with severe disabilities and complex needs in Kent.
These toilets are larger than standard disabled toilets and have additional equipment such as a height-adjustable changing bench, a hoist, and a peninsular toilet.
The scheme helps disabled and vulnerable adults in the county by enabling them to enjoy more activities and outings without worrying about the lack of suitable toilet facilities. The scheme also promotes dignity, independence, and inclusion for people with disabilities and their carers.

Disabled toilet (RADAR) scheme
You may need a special key for a disabled toilet. These are known as RADAR keys which give access certain disabled facilities across Kent and the United Kingdom. These keys are designed to be used in any of the 5,600 wheelchair accessible toilets across the country that are fitted with a RADAR key.
